Overview

The MIMS section of equator will give Meridian clients to the equator access to the MIMS database. This allows quick and easy access to cross referencing drugs and known adverse interactions between two or more drugs.

see the MIMS site at [1] for more information about the MIMS Services

Installing MIMS

The MIMS Data must be installed into your database to work correctly. Generally MIMS data is supplied in a zipped form and must be unzipped into a directory. For the following examples this directory is c:\MIMS. To install you need to open the password protected configuration form and find the "MIMS upload Config" page as shown below

You must tell the configuration where it can find certain data. All fields need to be filled in and all directories need to exist.

Also you need to set the Start date and End Date fields. This indicate the date period the data will be available. MIMS data is updated regularly, this ensures the clients cannot access old data.

If the fields are filled in correctly then the "import" button is enabled. Press to import. This process takes around 5 minutes. Once the import is completed press the "OK" or "Apply" button to save the data and the field settings.

Updating MIMS

If you receive updated MIMS data you will need to repeat the install process. The form will remember the directory fields so ( assuming the update data is in the same format as the previous data ) you should need to only update the date fields then press the "Import" field.

WARNING - when you update the local MIMS database, equator will keep the older copies in the database and appends the new information. As the database gets larger the update process will take significantly longer, especially the re-indexing process.
