Installing and Configuring Medical-Objects Magellan
Overview:
Provides a procedure to install and configure Medical-Objects Magellan.
This procedure covers some parts of Medical director 2 and 3

Magellan Software Installation
1. Download the latest Magellan from the following link
http://download.medical-objects.com.au/
2. The link on the download page looks like the following
3. The following window will appear
4. Click on Save
5. The following Save As window will appear. Save the Setup.exe in the directory C:\MO, if the directory does not exist create it
6. Once you have clicked Save, the following download screens will appear
7. Uncheck Close this dialog box when download completes
8. After it has been downloaded, click Run
9. At the Security Warning, Click Run
10. Once you have clicked Run, the installation process starts
11. Click Next
12. Click Next
13. To setup Magellan to run on a Server computer set the selection to Windows NT Service scheduler. As shown below
14. If you are setting up on a Workstation, select the Tray Icon Scheduler option
15. Click Next
16. The following window will setup the shortcuts. Leave the default entry and click Next
17. Click Install
18. Enter the Token or Serial key that you will acquire from the Medical-Objects help desk. The Token or Serial key can be emailed to you
19. Click I Agree
20. The PGP Key Generation Window will appear
21. Enter pgp in lowercase into both fields. Then Click Next
22. Once you have clicked Next, the following window will appear
23. At this window just type anything to make the blue bar move to 100%, then click Next
Note: What you type should be in lowercase.
24. Once you click Next, the following window will appear
25. Click Finish
Configuring Magellan Software
1. If the Magellan is running as a service stop the service and run as a tray icon (can be done from the start menu)
Double click the tray icon (highlighted below)
The Configuration window will appear
2. Select the Download Servers option in the left-hand pane
3. Enter the path for the downloaded files to go to in the Save download files here box. If you need to browse for the folder, click on the browse button at the right side of the input box
For Medical Director the following paths are generally used.
Medical Director 2 (Magellan installed on the Server) --> C:\MDW2\In\MO\ (Magellan installed on the Workstation) --> \\server\MDW2\In\MO\
Medical Director 3 (Magellan installed on the Server) --> C:\Program Files\Health Communication network\Messages\In\MO\ (Magellan installed on the Workstation) --> \\Server\HCNMSGS\In\MO\
Note: If the folders do not exist you must create them.
4. Set the Check Interval to 20 minutes
5. Select the Integration Options from the left pane
6. Set the ACK Management path to the local Import folder on the server or the network path on a workstation, that points to the server import folder; for example:
Medical Director 2 (Magellan installed on the Server) --> C:\MDW2\Out\Acks\ (Magellan installed on the Workstation) --> \\server\MDW2\Out\Acks\
Medical Director 3 (Magellan installed on the Server) --> C:\Program Files\Health Communication network\Messages\Out\Acks\ (Magellan installed on the Workstation) --> \\Server\HCNMSGS\Out\Acks\
7. Click Ok, to complete the configuration
8. Once you have clicked ok you will be taken back to the Log window
9. Click Finish again

The Magellan Tray icon will now be shown in the system tray located at right hand bottom of the desktop.
10. Click on the Check for new results icon
11. The main screen will show you the progress of the software as it collects available results. If all ticks are green you have a successful connection to the results server. If any of the ticks are red, take note of the related text and call Medical-Objects for a solution to the issue
12. If Magellan was installed as a Tray Icon just click the X button in the corner of the window to close the window to the Tray Icon
13. If the Magellan was installed as a Service, click the Exit Magellan icon to shut down the Magellan window and start the windows service
Magellan Service (Server Installation Only)
Note: We can have a look to see if the service has started by performing the following.
Open the services management console by:
1. On the desktop click Start and then Run
2. Now type in services.msc and click ok
3. Identify the tab Name and click it once – this will place the names in alphabetical order
4. Identify and left click the service Medical-Objects
Accessing Configuration Options
If you need to access the configuration panel again, see the following procedures.
a) For a Workstation or Tray Icon installation, just right click on the Magellan Icon shown in the image below.
Select Open Magellan Window.
b) For a Server installation or service installation you will need to go into the Services console and stop the service from running.
Open the services management console by:
• On the desktop click Start and then Run.
• Now type in services.msc and click ok.
• Identify the tab Name and click it once – this will place the names in alphabetical order
• Identify and left click the service Medical-Objects.
• Select Stop, to stop the service.
• You can now locate Medical-Objects > Magellan in the Start menu and start the tray icon. Follow the same process now for accessing the configuration panel via a workstation or tray icon installation.
Once the Open Magellan window appears you can select from the Utility menu, the Edit Configuration option.
