Transferring Capricorn to a new computer
Instructions for moving the Medical Objects Capricorn Software to a new PC.
1. If the Capricorn software is running as a service you can stop the service (Service called Capricorn). If the Capricorn software is running as a tray icon please shut the tray icon down (right click icon and choose shutdown).
You may want to ensure that Capricorn.exe is not running in the Task Manager before you move to step 2.
2. Copy the C:\MO directory to the new computer. Once copied over please uninstall Capricorn from old PC and remove directory as there cannot be 2 instances running.
3.Reinstall the Capricorn over the top of the c:\mo\capricorn folder using the Capricorn-setup.exe file from the link below. http://download.medical-objects.com.au/BleedingEdge/Capricorn-Setup.exe This will have complete the setup and capricorn will run as a tray icon at startup. However, if you want Capricorn to run as a service, see step 6.
4. Right click the tray icon and select configuration. log in using Username: SYSDBA Password: masterkey. Go to 'Server Parameters' and make sure the file output path still exists and is correct. for example , if moving from server to workstation and the Practice Management software's import folder is still on the server, you will have to put the UNC path to the import folder on the server as opposed to the local path which it would have been previously.
5. You will then have to make sure that your Practice software can import any incoming results. You may have to reconfigure your practice software to pick up any new incoming results , especially if the import folder has changed. Foe example, in Medical Director you may have to check the import rules to make sure it can pickup the files from the location you are delivering them to. See Our Wiki for configuration manuals for the most common practice management software. You can find the wiki at http://wiki.medical-objects.com.au/index.php/Practice_Management_Systems
6. (To install Capricorn as a service)Right click the tray icon and select configuration. log in using Username: SYSDBA Password: masterkey Select 'Service configuration' then select 'Install Service' button. Once completed select 'Start Service' button. The transfer should now be complete.
